The Super Meteor 650 has been on this part number since 2023, longer than either of the other two machines that share it, which makes it the one most likely to have a well-used panel sitting in its airbox right now. That is worth something, because the question this element raises can be settled by looking instead of by reasoning. Take the fitted panel out at the next service and hold it to the light. If a couple of seasons have barely marked it, the intake was never the limit and the CM265S F1-85 would be buying headroom above a ceiling nothing was reaching. If it is packed solid, the honest next step is a finer medium, not a coarser one.
Key Features
- Dry polyester in the racing weave, rated at 85 µm and 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Three times the rated flow of the standard medium, at five microns coarser filtration
- 95.22 % retention of 100-micron particles in the published comparison measurement
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, inside the standard housing
- Oil-free, washable, and built by Sprint Filter to last the life of the motorcycle
- Straight into the factory panel position with no modification; two years of warranty
Reading the panel that is already fitted
An air filter is one of the few components on a modern motorcycle that reports its own condition honestly and for free. It comes out in a minute, it can be judged by eye and by weight in the hand, and it tells you what the roads under this particular machine have been made of. That evidence is worth more than any argument on a product page, and it points in one direction more often than not: on sealed roads and normal distances a 650 does not exhaust the standard element between services. Where it does, the answer is a cleaning interval, not a different cloth.
Where the racing weave belongs
Its case rests on one condition, which is sustained full throttle high in the rev range, repeated often enough that the intake becomes the part under load. That is a description of track sessions, and the element is priced accordingly at three times the standard weave. Buying it for the road buys a rate that will not be called on, and it will not compensate elsewhere: a drop-in element does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger, however open the weave. Sprint Filter puts the intended use in the name rather than hiding it, which is the fairest way to sell a part like this.
Care and cleaning
The CM265S F1-85 is serviced dry, like the rest of the range. Compressed air on the clean side, worked outwards, restores the ordinary load; lukewarm water with a mild detergent handles greasy deposits and is rinsed until clear. Drying is open air and nothing else, at no point warmed and never near a flame, and the element is refitted only when it is completely dry. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, 2023 to 2026. The Shotgun 650 from 2024 and the Classic 650 from 2025 carry the same racing element, three machines on this number. Check your own year in the Fitment tab.
