Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – KTM 990 Duke (2024–2026) PM175S

Sprint Filter makes a water-repellent medium, the P037, and it is not catalogued for this airbox. What is offered here runs P08, P14, T12 and the racing F1-85, and none of those is the wet-weather specification. Worth knowing before a first autumn on a 990 Duke, because the answer to rain on this housing is not a different part number. It is that the P08 is dry polyester, which takes water without being altered by it, and which is meant to be washed in the first place.

Water is a material question

Cellulose is the material with the rain problem. A paper panel swells where it is wet, loses shape as it dries and does not come back to where it started, and none of that announces itself from outside the box. Woven polyester has no such reaction: it gets wet, it dries, and it holds the form it was pressed into. That is not a performance claim, it is the reason a washable element is washable at all. It also means a soaked ride is an ordinary event rather than the start of a purchase.

Choosing among the four

Finer weave means more retention and less flow. That is a trade rather than a ladder, and on this housing it runs a long way: the T12 at 7 microns passes 560 l/m²/sec, the P14 at 14 microns passes 1,800, the P08 at 80 passes 5,050, and the racing F1-85 at 85 passes 15,000. The P08 is the middle of that range and the general road answer. None of the four makes a standard 990 Duke quicker — a drop-in element never does that on a standard machine. What changes is where the intake resistance starts and whether it can be put back.

Care and cleaning

Air first: a line held to the clean face and pushed outward returns most elements to service in a few minutes. Where the load is greasy rather than dusty, lukewarm water with a mild detergent will shift it, rinsing until the water leaves clear. The PM175S then dries in open moving air and only there, never over a radiator or near a flame, and goes back in dry and untreated.
