DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the Öhlins FKS 511, released for the Kawasaki Z900RS as built between 2017 and 2025. Nothing visible changes on the bike, and everything about how the fork works does.
Key Features
- Listed by Öhlins for the Kawasaki Z900RS (2017–2025) and no other machine
- Damper stroke 120 mm
- Fitted spring: Öhlins Sold separately, see notes
How Öhlins Builds It
Materials read unremarkably on paper — aluminium, steel, nitrogen — and the difference lies in how precisely they are made. Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain. Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes.
What Changes Inside the Fork
Stroke is 120 mm, which is the travel Öhlins has to work with on this linkage. Damping was developed with 01309 in the unit. Öhlins identifies the spring as Sold separately, see notes. Öhlins supplies a baseline setting with the kit, established on the model it is listed for. The kit is re-valvable, so a suspension technician can go beyond the click range if needed.
About the NIX 30 Street Range
Street valving favours real road surfaces over circuit use: the fork moves early and keeps the tyre loaded. Öhlins supplies model-matched springs with the kit; the standard outer tubes stay on the bike. Compression and rebound become separately adjustable, which on most standard forks they were not.
The Z900RS in Particular
Heritage bikes are frequently ridden two-up, which exposes a soft standard damper immediately. The 2017–2025 generation kept the same chassis dimensions throughout, so one Öhlins number serves the whole run.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins releases FKS 511 against the Kawasaki Z900RS (2017–2025). It is model-specific rather than universal: length, stroke and valving are all set for this chassis. Öhlins notes for this application: 08790-xx spring series Öhlins lists this fitment under the model designations Z900RS , Z900RS Performance.
Road Approval
Road approval: unclear. There is no published German approval for this part on the Kawasaki Z900RS, and we would rather tell you that than imply one exists.
Fitting and Setup Service
This is not a part to rush. Öhlins recommends installation by an authorised service centre, and we are an authorised Öhlins service centre — fitting, servicing and setup all happen here. Get in touch if you would like the work done with the order.
