Where It Sits
Öhlins gives it as 10 mm, 10 mm; nothing about that is approximate. The separating piston or bladder inside keeps gas and oil apart; if it fails, the damping goes with it. Öhlins pressure-tests its hoses because a reservoir line carries the full gas charge. A soft reservoir usually means the bladder has failed rather than the gas has leaked.
Original Öhlins Part
Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.
Identifying the Right Part
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 03100-04 in this case. Check dimension a 10 mm, dimension b 10 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Fittings are specific to the hose and the housing they connect. A separating piston or bladder keeps nitrogen and oil apart; if it fails the damping goes with it.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
