Cut for the SuperSport
The bar position on this motorcycle is unlike either a Panigale's or a Monster's, and the S profile follows it. It is the version that keeps the cables sitting properly at full lock.
Öhlins and a Quickshifter
The S adds fully adjustable Öhlins at both ends and a bidirectional shifter. On a motorcycle built for mountain roads, better damping is worth more than any power increase would be.
Thirty Thousand Kilometres
The Testastretta 11 degree engine's valve service interval transformed what a Ducati costs to run. It is the least glamorous and most consequential thing the company did in twenty years.
Throttle Assembly Alone
The switch block stays where it is. This part covers the housing, which is what most owners actually want when nothing electrical needs attention.
The First Fifteen Degrees
On a twisting road that is where all the useful throttle work happens, and it is exactly where play in a moulded housing is most obvious. A machined bore keeps that region honest.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the surface. Against the S's gold suspension it acknowledges without attempting to match, which usually reads better.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. It is harder to work and considerably more durable where it clamps to the bar.
Half Fairing, Full Benefit
The SuperSport's bodywork covers enough to make a motorway tolerable without turning the bike into a superbike. It is a difficult balance and Ducati found it.
The One People Keep
Owners of 939 S models tend to hold onto them for a long time, which has kept used examples scarce. It is the clearest verdict any motorcycle receives.
