Engraved Rather Than Plain
The maker's mark is cut into the face. It is the sole difference from the unmarked version and it exists because owners are divided about which they prefer.
Cornering ABS as Standard
The 939 generation gained a Bosch inertial platform with lean-sensitive braking. On a touring bike ridden on unfamiliar roads that is worth considerably more than it is on a circuit machine.
Two Years and Then Nothing
Ducati built the 939 Hyperstrada briefly and then dropped the model entirely. Nothing in the current range replaces it, which is why used examples move quickly.
Throttle Assembly Alone
The switch block stays. This covers the housing by itself, which is what most owners actually want when the switchgear works.
A Machined Bore
Cut rather than formed, so the tube stays concentric across the mileage a touring motorcycle accumulates. That consistency reaches the engine as well as the hand.
Black Anodised
Converted into the surface. Salt, rain and gravel are what an all-weather bike actually meets and no coating handles them the way anodising does.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a loaded bike the handlebar carries more than it looks like it should.
Sixteen Litres
Ducati gave the Hyperstrada a considerably bigger tank than the Hypermotard's. On a motorcycle intended for journeys that is the difference between stopping hourly and stopping twice a day.
Engraving That Survives
Cut into the anodised layer rather than printed over it, the mark ages exactly as the rest of the component does. Nothing about it fades or lifts.
