A Drag Bike Base
More Hayabusas are converted for the quarter mile than any other motorcycle. Those builds strip everything that does not contribute, and the stand goes early.
Thirteen Hundred and Forty Cubic Centimetres
Suzuki's long-distance engine, largely unchanged from 1999 to 2017. It responds to tuning in a way very few road motors do and the aftermarket knows it.
What the Switch Prevents
Riding away with the stand extended. On a motorcycle this heavy the consequences at a junction are worse than on most bikes.
The Circuit Afterwards
With the switch gone the loop is permanently open and the ECU treats it as deployed. The engine stops in gear.
Restoring It
The eliminator closes the circuit in the way the controller expects. The bike runs normally and the display reports nothing.
Nineteen Model Years
The fitment covers 1999 to 2017, so the first generation and most of the second. Suzuki changed remarkably little across either.
Nothing Cut
Suzuki's own connector. On a bike often kept for twenty years and modified repeatedly, an untouched loom is worth having.
Fitted During the Strip
It goes on when the stand comes off, which on a drag or turbo build is usually the first evening's work.
Keep It on a Road Bike
A Hayabusa still used on public roads should keep its stand and its interlock. There is no upside to removing either.
Turbocharging
The 1340 cc engine takes forced induction more readily than almost anything else on sale, and builders regularly extract three hundred horsepower from it. Those machines have nothing standard left on them and the sidestand is among the first components to leave.
