A Bracket That Has Seen Fifteen Winters
The stand, its spring and its switch have spent that long within a few centimetres of the road surface. Corrosion at the connector is common on these bikes and it produces symptoms nobody enjoys chasing.
Intermittent Rather Than Dead
A failing switch does not usually stop working outright. It cuts the engine at a junction, behaves perfectly in the garage and does it again a week later, which is the worst possible fault to diagnose.
Removed on Purpose Instead
Owners taking one of these to a circuit take off the lights, the plate and the stand in a single evening. The switch leaves with the bracket it is bolted to and the problem leaves with it.
A Second Career
Depreciation has moved these motorcycles into the hands of people who use them hard rather than preserve them, and preparation of this kind follows almost automatically.
The Engine Stops in Gear
Without the switch the controller cannot confirm the stand is retracted. Nothing else on the build can be tested until the input is satisfied.

Flat Bars on a Superbike
