The JP CJP 012B hands the Tuono 660 Factory a blank fuel map and the software to fill it, which is both the entire product and the entire commitment.

Shorter Gearing
The Factory drops a tooth at the front and stiffens the suspension. Shorter gearing puts the engine into a different part of its map for the same road speed.
Small Steps
Two or three percent at a time in the cells being worked on. Large jumps produce an engine that surges between operating points and tell the mapper nothing useful.
The Baseline Ride
Ride the motorcycle with an empty map and note where it hesitates, surges or feels flat. That list is the specification for the first mapping session.
The Exhaust Comes First
Fit the silencer, ride it, then map. Mapping around a system that is about to be replaced is work that has to be done twice.
Road Mapping
Entirely possible with a logger and quiet roads, and considerably slower. Most owners who map their own motorcycles do it this way and get there eventually.
Cruise First
The cells a motorcycle actually occupies on a road are a small part of the map and account for most of what a rider notices. Start there rather than at full load.
If Something Feels Wrong
Write the empty map back and ride the same road. Ten minutes settles whether the unit is responsible, which is a diagnostic luxury a reflash does not give.
A Full System Versus a Slip-On
A complete exhaust changes the gas flow far more than a silencer alone. The mapping effort scales with it and so does what a good map is worth.
What Changes on the Road
Nothing dramatic. The hesitation off a closed throttle disappears, the surge at a steady speed goes, and the engine answers the same way on every corner exit. Good mapping is felt as an absence.
