Reversible
The standard housing refits on its own fasteners with no replacement seals required, so the engine returns to specification whenever it needs to.
A Cracked Reed's Signature
Soot inside the airbox and an element discoloured well before its interval. It is almost always found while chasing something entirely unrelated.
Torque Into Aluminium
The fasteners thread into the head and Kawasaki specifies a figure for good reason. Guessing at it turns a twenty-minute job into a thread repair.
No Change to Cooling
The housing sits on an external face and carries no coolant. Removing it affects nothing thermal about the cylinder head at all.
The Case Against Improvising
A bolt and washer, a rubber bung or a smear of epoxy will all hold for a while. None survives a season of heat cycling and the epoxy has to be chiselled off.
Where the Soot Shows
Inside the airbox and on the filter, downstream of a cracked reed. It is the cheapest diagnosis available anywhere on the system.
Supercharged and Still Certified
Kawasaki got a supercharged engine through Euro emissions testing, which took a considerable amount of hardware. The Z H2 therefore carries more of it than a naturally aspirated four of the same output would.
Showa Skyhook on the SE
Electronic suspension that reads the surface continuously, which is what makes two hundred supercharged horsepower usable on a road that is not perfectly smooth.
