Clip-Ons and a Cafe Racer Tail
Triumph built the Thruxton to look like a 1960s production racer and then gave it suspension and brakes that work, which the originals never had.

A Solenoid Under the Tank
It opens the path and closes it again on command, and it is the only electrically active part of the whole arrangement. Everything else is hose and reed.

Why Triumph Monitors It At All
Because regulations require the system to be shown to be working, not merely present. The self-test exists to satisfy that requirement and it does its job faithfully.
An Emissions Device, Not a Restriction
Secondary air does not reduce power, choke the intake or soften the throttle. It operates only when the engine is not being asked for anything, which is why removing it changes the sound and nothing else. Anybody selling it as a performance part is misrepresenting it.
Fitted With the Airbox Open
Anybody already inside for a filter change has the connector in front of them, which makes this the cheapest twenty minutes on the whole service list.
