The 2016 Revision
Triumph reworked more than a hundred engine components and added ride by wire, riding modes and traction control. It was a bigger change than the styling suggested.
A Hundred and Forty Horsepower
Slightly up on the earlier bike and delivered with more midrange, which on a naked motorcycle is where the difference is actually felt.
A Solenoid Under the Tank
It opens the path and closes it again on command, and it is the only electrically active part of the whole arrangement. Everything else is hose and reed.
Nothing Cut
Triumph's own connector throughout. The loom is left exactly as the factory built it, which matters when the standard parts eventually go back.
An Honest Description
This is an emissions delete. It changes the bike's legal standing where the system is mandated and it changes nothing about how the engine makes power.
Older Bikes, Brittle Connectors
On a Triumph past its first decade the plastic around the connector has hardened, and forcing it is how a straightforward job turns into a wiring repair. Warm hands and patience are the whole technique.
A Common First Modification
It arrives in the same order as a tail tidy and a set of levers, because all three are inexpensive, reversible and visible in their effect.
The Second Half Is Optional
Plenty of owners fit only the electrical eliminator and are entirely satisfied. The cylinder head cover addresses a different problem, and there is no obligation to do both at once.
Cheap to Undo
Ten minutes and a valve from a box. The cost of changing your mind is the lowest of any modification on the bike.
