The JP MJ 004 is the Memjet EVO power module for the R1250GS Adventure, a preset fuel module that corrects the mixture without anything being written to the motorcycle's own electronics.

The Loaded Boxer
Full luggage, a large tank and often a pillion. The Adventure spends its life near the top of its load range, which is where mixture accuracy matters most.
Two Hundred Grams
The module weighs about as much as a mobile telephone and the harness adds very little. This is not a component anybody buys or avoids on the basis of mass.
On an Older Motorcycle
Early injection systems were mapped more coarsely than current ones and frequently ran leaner. A module tends to make a bigger difference on a machine from the two thousands than on one from last year.

Choosing a Location
Dry, secured, away from heat and with the cable routed so suspension movement does not pull on it. That is the entire specification and it takes ten minutes to satisfy.
The Airbox Lid
Owners sometimes drill or remove it hoping for the same result. That changes airflow without changing fuel and generally makes the mixture problem worse rather than better.
Tank Off Models
A minority of machines route the harness under the tank, which turns the job into an hour. The listing does not say which, so a look underneath before ordering saves an evening.
