DescriptionThe whole story▼
Tuono is Italian for thunder, and the name suits Aprilia's naked V4 well. The Tuono V4 1100 takes its engine from the RSV4 family and puts it into a bike with a high, wide handlebar, which makes it a favourite for Sunday rides with friends on twisty roads. Those mornings follow a routine: coffee, tyre pressures, chain, and a look at the oil before the group leaves. For the Tuono V4 1100 RF of 2018, Accossato lists the FP009, an oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised and made with an M25x1.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RF of 2018
- M25x1.5 thread, as specified by Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Eight colours: orange, silver, blue, gold, black, green, red, titanium
- Adaptable to other motorcycles with a cap of the same size
- Same cap listed for several RSV4 and Tuono versions
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FP009 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised, which gives it its colour: orange, silver, blue, gold, black, green, red or titanium. Its thread is M25x1.5, larger than that of Accossato's oil cap for the Aprilia V-twins. According to the maker, it fits the listed applications and can be adapted to other motorcycles whose filler has the same size. Keep the thread and sealing face clean, and it will turn smoothly for years.
Before the Sunday Ride
The oil check belongs to the start of the morning, before the V4 of the Tuono has been started for the first time that day. With the engine cold, put the bike in the position the owner's manual specifies for reading the level; that is the only reading that counts. If the level is at the lower end, wipe the area around the filler clean, take the cap out and set it on a clean cloth, then add a little oil at a time, checking between each addition. Refit the FP009 by hand and turn it until it is snug. A spirited Sunday ride on a Tuono V4 1100 works the engine hard, so when the group stops for lunch, take a quick look at the filler and the crankcase around it. It should be dry. Do not open the cap then, though; wait until the engine has cooled completely. Back home, the bike goes into the garage with a known oil level, ready for the next weekend.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP009 for the Tuono 1100 V4 RF of 2018, which is the only Tuono year shown for this listing. With its M25x1.5 thread, the same cap is also catalogued at Inter-Pace for the RSV4, the Tuono V4 1100 Factory and the MV Agusta Brutale 1090. If your Tuono V4 1100 is from another year, compare the thread against the original cap before ordering, or contact us.
Road Approval
An ABE or a test mark is not available to us for the FP009, so we offer it as a part for the racetrack.
