Sprint Filter P14 Air Filter for Dusty Conditions – Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 (2020–2026) PM200P14

Sprint Filter publishes two figures for every medium it makes, and the interesting thing about them is that they do not mirror each other. Going from the P08 to the P14 in this airbox tightens the rating from 80 µm to 14 — a factor of nearly six. The flow figure does not fall by a factor of six in return; it goes from 5,050 l/m²/sec to 1,800, a little over a third of what it was. Two different amounts, moving in opposite directions. That is the entire specification of the PM200P14, and it is why neither number decides the purchase on its own.

Reading the pair instead of one of them

Quote the retention figure alone and every finer medium looks like an upgrade. Quote the flow figure alone and every coarser one does. Both readings are wrong for the same reason: the numbers describe one exchange from two sides. A medium cannot hold more back and pass more through, and Sprint Filter does not claim it can — the range exists so that the exchange can be made deliberately for the conditions rather than by default. On a 248.8 cc single ridden through dry summers, spending flow that was never fully drawn on to gain retention that is drawn on constantly is a defensible way round.

The part of the claim we will not make

Neither of these elements makes a standard Svartpilen noticeably faster, and the finer one plainly cannot: it passes less air than the medium it replaces. The benefit is a low intake restriction that stays low, because the element is cleaned back to its starting condition instead of loading permanently the way a paper panel does. Everything else is arithmetic about which kind of air you ride through.

Care and cleaning

Blow the PM200P14 through from the clean face outward with compressed air; on most services nothing further is needed. When the medium has taken on more than air will move, use hand-warm water with a mild detergent, agitate gently and rinse until the run-off is clear. Drying happens in circulating air, however long that takes — never with a heater, a hot-air gun or a flame — and the element is refitted only when it is dry all the way through.
