The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
The catalogue line for this machine reads Turismo Veloce, Lusso, RC and SCS — the longest name on MV's filter list, and four bikes that differ in luggage, suspension, livery and, in the SCS, an automatic clutch. Not one of those differences sits ahead of the throttle bodies. All four take the same element, which is a useful reminder that trim levels are decided by a marketing department and part numbers are decided by a housing.
Key Features
- One element for every Turismo Veloce version, Lusso, RC and SCS included
- Dry woven polyester, never oiled at any point in its service life
- Filtering surface roughly double that of other performance filters
- 80 µm aperture, rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Fits the standard airbox as it is — no modification and no remap
- Cleaned rather than replaced, with two years of warranty from purchase
Where the differences actually stop
Panniers, adjustable damping, a quickshifter, a centrifugal clutch: all of them change how a Turismo Veloce is used and none of them change what it breathes. That matters when ordering, because an owner reading a specification sheet full of variant-specific components can reasonably assume the intake is variant-specific too. It is not. CM135S is indexed to the airbox, and the airbox has stayed put through every version since 2015 and through the ten other MV triples on the same list.
The one thing that does vary
Not the model, but the road. This is the only machine of the eleven that Sprint Filter also catalogues with finer media, because a bike used for long distances can meet conditions the road and track weave was not drawn for. The trade is fixed and unavoidable: a finer cloth stops more and passes less, so 5,050 l/m²/sec becomes 1,800 at 14 microns and 560 at 7. For a Turismo Veloce used as a sports tourer on surfaced roads, the standard medium is the right end of that scale. It adds no power — no insert filter does — but it holds the intake where MV set it.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air from the clean side, worked outwards, is the standard service and can be done anywhere with a compressor. A wash — lukewarm water, mild detergent, rinsing until the water stays clear — belongs at the end of a dirty trip rather than in the routine. Drying is done in air and only in air: a flame, a heat gun or a radiator will ruin the weave, and the element must be bone dry before it goes back. Refit it untreated, with no oil or dressing. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet is available under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Covers the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 in Lusso, RC and SCS forms, built from 2015 to 2026. This element is common to eleven MV Agusta triples — the Fitment tab names each one.
