A worn valve bleeds damping away without any visible symptom.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05666-20

What It Is

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely. Rebuilding a piston means keeping the shim order, because the stack is the tuning. A check valve holds pressure in one direction and opens in the other; a worn one lets damping bleed away.

Original Öhlins Part

Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

Identifying the Right Part

05666-20 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Valves hold pressure in one direction and open in the other. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05666-20

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05666-20_3a2b32ca-4c2a-4f0a-bf49-5e4bb889e148.png?v=1788877000
