DescriptionThe whole story

Designed for riders who demand race-grade front suspension performance, the K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit transforms the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 fork from a competent road setup into a precisely tuneable track tool. Built around K-Tech's 25 mm Independent Damping System, this cartridge kit delivers the kind of separation between compression and rebound control that serious circuit work demands — without compromise.

Key Features

  • 25 mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) — compression and rebound circuits are fully independent for exacting suspension calibration on track or road
  • 24 clicks of independent compression adjustment and 30 clicks of independent rebound adjustment give a wide, finely graduated tuning range
  • Increased stroke versus the OEM cartridge delivers improved damping performance across a broader range of conditions
  • Aerospace-grade aluminium construction with hard-anodised and super-finished components for long-term durability and consistent damping action
  • Spring preload is fully adjustable, allowing ride height and balance to be dialled in to suit rider weight, tyre choice and circuit layout
  • Compatible with the full 36-260 series K-Tech spring range, so you can select the exact spring rate for your application

Track-Focused Engineering

The 25IDS architecture is the foundation of K-Tech's open-cartridge range. By separating the compression and rebound damping valves into genuinely independent circuits, the system eliminates the cross-sensitivity that limits conventional cartridge designs. On a demanding circuit, this means you can chase corner-entry stability and mid-corner composure without sacrificing the suppleness needed for kerb strikes and surface imperfections. The hard-anodised and super-finished bore and rod surfaces minimise friction throughout the stroke, keeping the fork sensitive and consistent lap after lap.

Build Quality

Every component is machined from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy — lightweight, stiff, and highly resistant to corrosion. The hard-anodised finish on critical surfaces adds a layer of wear resistance that keeps the damping characteristics stable over the long term. The super-finished rod surface reduces stiction to a minimum, translating directly into improved small-bump compliance and more communicative feedback through the bars.

Setup & Installation

K-Tech's suggested baseline settings — 12 clicks compression, 18 clicks rebound, 8 mm preload — give a proven starting point from which to develop a circuit-specific setup. Springs are not included and must be ordered separately from the K-Tech 36-260 series range; selecting the correct spring rate for your weight and riding style is essential to realise the full potential of the cartridge. Installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is recommended to ensure correct fitment and initial setup.

Fitment & Compatibility

This cartridge kit is a direct fitment for the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 across all model years from 2013 to 2026.
