DescriptionThe whole story▼
Drop the vague stock damping and give your Aprilia RS 660 a fork that actually responds to you. The K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit replaces the original cartridge with a fully independent 25 mm damping system engineered specifically for the RS 660's fork legs, handing you precise, repeatable control over compression, rebound and spring preload — whether you're threading morning commutes or pushing hard on a favourite B-road.
Key Features
- 25 mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) designed as a direct replacement for the RS 660 OEM cartridge
- 30 clicks of independent compression adjustment and 30 clicks of independent rebound adjustment for fine-grained, repeatable setup changes
- Increased travel compared to the original cartridge, giving the fork more usable stroke
- Machined from aerospace-grade aluminium, hard-anodised and super-finished for long service life and consistent friction characteristics
- Wide range of compatible springs (36-260 series) available separately, allowing you to match spring rate precisely to your weight and riding style
- All adjusters operate independently, so dialling in one setting never disturbs another
Everyday Usability and Real-World Value
Unlike aftermarket kits aimed solely at the track, the 25IDS rewards riders who want a better-handling motorcycle every day. The 30-click compression and rebound ranges are wide enough to accommodate everything from soft road touring setups to firmer sport settings, and each click produces a noticeable, consistent change — no guesswork. Hard-anodised and super-finished internals mean the cartridge beds in quickly and stays consistent across temperature extremes, so the setup you dial in on a cool morning still works on a hot afternoon.
Because springs are selected and ordered separately from the 36-260 series, you pay only for the rate that suits your weight and load rather than accepting a generic compromise. The result is a fork that tracks road imperfections instead of crashing through them, builds rider confidence at real-world speeds, and reduces fatigue on longer rides.
Build Quality
Every component is manufactured from aerospace-grade aluminium billet, then hard-anodised and put through K-Tech's super-finish process. That combination minimises stiction — the static friction that makes a fork feel wooden over small bumps — while protecting the surface against corrosion and wear. The increased travel over stock means the fork can absorb larger hits without topping or bottoming the cartridge, an important margin when road surfaces are unpredictable.
Installation
K-Tech recommends installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre to ensure correct oil level, spring preload and baseline click settings. The suggested baseline is: oil/air cap 155 mm, compression 14 clicks, rebound 18 clicks, preload 8 mm. Note: compatible springs from the 36-260 series must be ordered separately and are not included with this kit.
