Skyhook Suspension
The S carries Ducati's semi-active system, which reads the chassis and adjusts damping continuously. On a motorcycle that carries luggage and a passenger, it removes a setup task from every departure.
No Logo
The face is left plain. It is the version for an owner who wants machined aluminium that does not identify itself.
Cornering Lights and a Colour Screen
The S added LED units that follow lean angle and a full TFT display. In 2015 that was a specification adventure bikes were only beginning to reach.
Housing Only
The switch block is untouched. This part replaces the throttle assembly, which is the sensible purchase when nothing electrical needs attention.
A Machined Bore
Cut rather than formed, so the tube stays concentric across the mileage a touring motorcycle accumulates. Ride-by-wire means the engine sees the same consistency.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the surface. It survives what a bike ridden through winters actually meets, which a coating does not.
Ergal 7075
Aerospace grade at roughly twice the strength of ordinary machined alloy. The handlebar on a loaded adventure bike carries considerably more than it appears to.
DVT, Explained Simply
Both camshafts move relative to the crank, so the engine can breathe like a touring motor at low revs and like a sports motor at high ones. Nobody else was doing it on a V-twin.
Two-Up, Loaded
Semi-active damping compensates automatically for a passenger and panniers. On a bike that carries both regularly, that is worth more than any of the electronics that get advertised louder.
A Screen That Moves While Riding
The Multistrada's windscreen adjusts with one hand at speed rather than requiring a stop and a tool. It sounds like a small thing and it is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving deaf, which on a motorcycle bought specifically for long distances is not a small thing at all.
