DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few machines have stayed in production as long as the Yamaha FJR1300. From 2001 until the end of its run it did the same job in the same way: carrying two people and their luggage a long distance quickly and without drama. Accossato lists it with ABS from 2001 to 2023 against the FC124, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium. On a motorcycle of this size and weight, the way a cap is operated matters more than it does on a light sports bike.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha FJR1300, 2001 to 2023
- Accossato lists the machine with ABS
- Made completely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl sold separately as a spare
- Fit to be confirmed against the application list
- No German ABE documented; supplied for the circuit
Construction and Material Quality
The FC124 is aluminium throughout, machined on CNC equipment, and Accossato presents it as a robust and durable part with a fresh design. Its mechanism is a quick-closing pawl rather than a fitting that has to be turned into place, so the FJR1300's tank opens with a single action. The pin inside the pawl provides the colour and is chosen from six at the time of ordering. Accossato keeps the pawl available as an individual spare, which means damage to it does not take the cap out of service.
One Hand on the Handlebar
A large touring machine is heavy and tall, and there are moments when it wants both of your hands. Standing beside it on a sloping paddock surface, holding it upright off the side stand while somebody else pours, you become aware of how much easier life is when the tank can be opened with the hand that is free. That is the practical case for a quick-closing pawl and it has nothing to do with lap times. It applies equally when the FJR1300 is on its centre stand on level ground, gloves still on, and you simply want the job done before the next group is called out. Take a second afterwards to press the cap home and confirm that it has engaged.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato files the FJR 1300 with ABS from 2001 to 2023 for this cap, and that is the range covered here. In our catalogue the FC124 is also listed for the FZ1 Fazer, the MT-10 and the Niken. Check your machine against the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC124, so we supply it for closed circuits. The FJR1300 keeps its original cap for the road, which normally opens with the ignition key.
Scope of Delivery
