DescriptionThe whole story▼

A stop sign means a full stop, and on a K 1600 GTL with a passenger and luggage, the last metre before standstill is where smoothness is won or lost. Pull the clutch too late and the engine protests; pull it too early and the heavy bike rolls the final stretch without drive, which makes it harder to keep steady. Accossato's ESC075 is a CNC-machined clutch lever for the K 1600 GTL of 2017 to 2019, fitted at the original clutch mounting, with an adjustable reach so the timing of that last movement comes naturally.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the BMW K 1600 GTL, 2017 to 2019
  • Fits at the original clutch mounting
  • Adjustable reach
  • Standard blade in all seven colours
  • Blue and green in three lengths, gold also short, orange also long
  • Machined aluminium, anodised; black hub
  • Fixed, hinge-free blade
  • Supplied in an Accossato box

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the ESC075 from aluminium, shaped by CNC milling and finished by anodising: black for the hub, which holds the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, and the colour you select for the blade. Which lengths you can have depends on that colour. A black, red or silver ESC075 is made as a standard lever only. Gold is also available short and orange also long, and blue and green are offered in short, standard and long. In every version the lever is a single fixed piece with no folding joint.

The Last Metre

Stopping smoothly on a heavy bike is a sequence rather than a single action. Brake progressively as you approach the line, change down so that you are in first gear as the speed falls, and pull the clutch in fully just before the engine would start to labour, at little more than walking pace. In the final metre, ease off the front brake so the front end settles gently, put your left foot down while the right stays on the brake pedal, and hold the bike upright at a complete stop. Then look properly, both ways, before moving off. The timing of the clutch in this sequence is what most riders find hard to repeat, especially with a passenger and a full top case behind them. A lever that sits where your fingers can pull it fully in one movement, without letting go of the grip, makes the timing easier to get right every time. Set the ESC075 on your K 1600 GTL so that a full pull is quick and the release, when you move off, is steady.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the K 1600 GTL of 2017 to 2019, the ESC075 is Accossato's clutch lever; bikes from 2011 to 2016 take the ESB002 instead. It mounts at the original clutch mounting in place of the BMW part, and the brake lever listed for the same later K 1600 GTL is the EDB077.

Road Approval

No German ABE has been documented for the ESC075, which is why we sell it for track use.
