DescriptionThe whole story▼

The TRK 251 takes the look of Benelli's TRK adventure range and scales it down around a single-cylinder engine, for riders who want a compact, upright bike for town and country roads. An upright seat makes braking feel easy, but it also tempts the rider to brace against the handlebar as the bike slows, and stiff arms are bad for brake feel. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium front brake lever for the TRK 251 of the 2019 model year, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Benelli TRK 251, model year 2019
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjuster near the pivot
  • Short, standard (approx. 138 mm) or long blade, depending on colour
  • Seven colours for the blade; hub black
  • Machined from solid aluminium, anodised
  • Fixed blade without a hinge
  • No German ABE documented; for the track

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF016 is cut from solid aluminium on CNC machines and anodised afterwards. Two tones result: a black hub, where the pivot and the reach adjuster sit, and a blade in the colour you chose. Anodising grows a hard oxide layer out of the metal's own surface and dyes it, which is why the colour does not form a skin that could lift or chip. The lever is fixed from end to end, without a hinge, so the blade answers your fingers directly.

Brace With the Knees, Brake With the Fingers

When a motorcycle slows hard, the rider's body keeps moving forward. Many newer riders stop that movement with their arms, locking the elbows and pushing against the bar, and the result is a hand gripping too tightly to feel what the brake is doing. Better support comes from lower down: press the knees against the tank, let the stomach and back take the load, and keep the arms bent and loose. On the TRK 251, with its upright seat and adventure-style bar, this is easy to practise in an empty car park at moderate speed, building up the pressure a little more with each stop. The lever setting supports the technique. With the blade adjusted so that the fingers meet it at their first joint while the hand rests lightly on the grip, the pressure can rise smoothly without the wrist having to twist. Newer riders with smaller hands often bring the blade quite close; the short version, in blue, gold, green, orange or silver, suits two-finger braking, while the standard blade in any of the seven colours stays closest to the original lever of the TRK 251.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF016 for the TRK 251 in the 2019 model year only, and the lever mounts on the original front brake master cylinder. Other model years of the TRK 251 are not on Accossato's list for this part. No clutch lever is named for the bike, so the product covers the right hand only. The larger TRK 502 has its own listings in our range.

Road Approval

The EDF016 is sold for the track, because no German ABE has been documented for it.
