Circlips are single-use in practice: once sprung, they no longer hold their groove reliably. The correct pliers matter: a scored clip is a failed clip. Ordering the small parts with the seal kit saves the second delivery that most rebuilds otherwise need.

Why the Original

Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 00557-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. The published dimensions are dimension a 28 mm, dimension b 1.0 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Small parts are cheap until one of them is missing on a Friday afternoon.
