An honest reading of "extreme"

A 1200 cm³ twin with scrambler bodywork spends most of its life on sealed roads, and for that duty the standard element is the right part. The 7-micron mat becomes the right one where dry, unsealed ground is a regular condition rather than an afternoon — and the difference between those two cases is weeks per year, not intentions. Anyone who cannot name the roads that would justify it is better served by the standard weave, and this page would rather say so.

What the ninefold costs

The gap between the two panels is ninefold on the flow bench, and it is a standing charge: motorway, commute, wet Tuesday in November, all billed at the same rate as the dry track that justified the purchase. Nothing about that is an argument against the mat — it is an argument for buying it against real weeks rather than intended ones. And in neither configuration is output involved: a series airbox with this element in it leaves a standard Super Scrambler as it was.

Care and cleaning

Two stages and one rule for the CM170T12. Stage one is air from the clean side, gently and for longer than feels necessary. Stage two, only when stage one has stopped producing anything, is lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a long rinse. The rule is that drying is passive: room temperature, moving air, no heat of any kind, because heat ruins this material silently. Nothing is applied before refitting.
