Buying a motorcycle that arrives ahead of its market comes with a question attached, and it is not about how the thing rides. It is about what will still be on a shelf in ten years. Low-volume models are supported enthusiastically while they are current and thinly afterwards, and the parts that disappear first are rarely the glamorous ones — they are the routine service items that were only ever ordered in the quantities the model itself justified. The Sprint Filter P08 PM164S sidesteps that arithmetic in two ways: it is an element built to be cleaned rather than replaced, and it is not a Z7 Hybrid part at all.
Key Features
- Two-year warranty, dated from the day of purchase
- Washable and reusable — compressed air is the normal service, not a replacement part
- The medium presents roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Dry polyester that is never oiled, so nothing can migrate downstream onto sensors or throttle bodies
- Polyester threads from ø 22 microns, held at a calibrated aperture instead of the randomness of pressed pulp
- The standard airbox takes it directly: nothing modified, nothing remapped, homologation unaffected
A shared part is a stocked part
This element serves eleven machines built around the same airbox — ten Kawasaki models and the Bimota KB399. That breadth is what keeps a part number alive. Demand does not depend on how many Z7 Hybrids were sold in any one market, and the reasons a supplier eventually stops making something do not apply to a number this widely used.
The consumable that stops being one
The other half of the answer is that the element is not consumed. Compressed air from the clean side is the normal service; water and a mild detergent handle a hard season; Sprint Filter designs the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle. Over a ten-year ownership that removes an item from the parts list entirely rather than reducing it, and it removes the specific failure mode where a bike sits waiting because a small, cheap, unexciting part is out of stock. The restriction stays where it started instead of climbing between services, which is the practical benefit — not more power, which no panel element delivers.
Care and cleaning
Nothing about this is specialised. A compressor, aimed from the clean side and worked outwards, restores the element at a normal service; lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a rinse until the water runs clear deals with a season that has been harder than usual. What follows matters more than either: the element dries fully in air, never with heat and never with a flame, and is refitted dry. No oil goes on before it, after it or instead of it. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Kawasaki Z7 Hybrid, 2024 to 2026. The same PM164S element serves eleven machines built around this airbox; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
