Data Rather Than Display
MoTeC systems are chosen by teams who need to log properly: suspension travel, wheel speeds, brake pressure, throttle position, all recorded and read between sessions. The switch feeds that system, and the buttons are inputs to the logger rather than to Honda's ECU.
A Privateer's Fireblade
Factory teams run Honda's own kit electronics. A CBR1000RR-R with MoTeC in it is almost always a well-funded privateer machine in a national championship, where the team wants a data system it already understands rather than one tied to a manufacturer's support programme.
Universal Clamp Pattern
A bike prepared to this level will be running an aftermarket radial master cylinder, and the clamp geometry rarely matches Honda's. The universal plate takes both arrangements, which keeps the brake specification independent of the switchgear.
The Racing Loom Comes First
This switch does not connect to anything Honda fitted. It presumes a racing harness and a configured MoTeC dashboard are already in the motorcycle, which for most owners means a winter's work. Ordering it before that is done leaves a part in a box.
Milled From Solid
Ergal 7075, machined rather than cast, with sealed switch elements. The value is in how cleanly the edge around each button is cut, because that edge is what the thumb reads when there is no time to look.
Which Clamp You Have
The universal plate accepts both aligned and offset master cylinder geometry, which on a race build removes one variable. It is slightly wider than a dedicated version would be, and on a cockpit already carrying a logger and its wiring that is the trade being made.
Sealed Elements
The contacts are sealed units inside a one-piece milled housing. Ingress rather than mechanical wear is what ends switchgear on a competition motorcycle, and the construction is aimed at that.
