DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tiger Sport 850 is the road-only version of the 900 platform. The JP PDQ TR039 carries its right-hand controls where a quick throttle has replaced the standard tube.
Key Features
- Triumph Tiger Sport 850 (2021–2024)
- For quick-action throttle installations
- Titanium anodised Ergal 7075
- CNC-machined from solid
- Military-specification switch elements
- Pre-wired for the original connector
A Detuned 900 With a Different Name
Triumph took the Tiger 900's engine, reduced the output to 84 hp, fitted cast wheels and road-biased suspension, and called it the Tiger Sport 850. The displacement is unchanged at 888 cc; the name refers to market position rather than to anything mechanical.
Built for Tarmac Only
Nothing on this bike suggests it expects to leave the road, and Triumph never claimed otherwise. It is an adventure-styled sports tourer for riders who want the riding position and the weather protection without the compromises a 21 inch front wheel imposes.
Why the Throttle Gets Shortened
Purely for response. With less peak power than the 900, the 850 rewards a rider who keeps it working, and a shorter action makes the engine feel considerably more eager without changing a single internal component.
The Switch Block Moves
It is built into the throttle assembly and cannot survive its replacement. This unit takes over the starter and engine stop functions on an independent clamp, pre-wired for Triumph's connector.
Long Days on the Bar
A sport tourer's right hand stays in place for hours. Being able to position the switch where the thumb rests when the wrist is relaxed is a comfort question over that kind of distance, and a bar-mounted unit allows it where a throttle-mounted one does not.
Sealed Against Real Weather
Military-specification contacts inside a one-piece milled housing. A bike bought to be ridden regardless of forecast needs switchgear that behaves the same at the end of a wet week as at the start.
