DescriptionThe whole story▼
Road spray does not treat all parts of a motorcycle equally. The top yoke stays reasonably clean; the rear brake reservoir, tucked down near the swingarm pivot of a Panigale 959, collects a film of water, salt and rubber dust that nobody removes until the next wash. Over a few seasons that tells on the original cap. The TS012 from Accossato is a replacement in aluminium, machined on CNC equipment and anodised in seven colours, for a spot that gets a harder life than its size suggests.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Panigale 959
- Accossato's years: 2017 to 2019, Corse versions included
- Replaces the cap on the standard rear reservoir
- Machined from aluminium, colour applied by anodising
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP004, FP007 and TS003 available for the same motorcycle
- No German ABE held here; catalogued for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
CNC machining gives the TS012 its shape, anodising gives it colour, and aluminium is what both processes work on. Seven shades are listed: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver and gold. Because the anodised layer belongs to the metal rather than lying on it, the finish copes with the wiping and washing that a low-mounted part receives more often than a high one. Accossato dimensions the cap for the reservoir Ducati fitted to the machines on its list, so the rear brake of a Panigale 959 keeps every other component it left the factory with. Check the original diaphragm while the old cap is off, and renew it if it has aged.
Road Grime Where Nobody Looks
Dirt around a reservoir is not only a cosmetic matter. Whatever has settled on that surface is sitting directly above an opening that leads into the brake circuit, and the moment a cap is lifted, gravity decides where it goes. So the first tool for this job is a cloth, not a spanner. Clean the top and the sides of the reservoir on your Panigale 959 thoroughly, let everything dry, and only then stand the bike upright on both wheels so the fluid lies flat and level. Lay a cloth over the paint nearby and keep water within reach for a splash, because brake fluid marks lacquer and waiting makes it worse. Look at the level against the marks and at the colour of the fluid; dark fluid is a service matter, governed by the interval in the owner's manual and not improved by a new cap. Keep the opening exposed briefly, since the fluid takes up moisture from the air around it. Fit the TS012, tighten it with restraint rather than force, and press the pedal several times before the machine rolls out of the garage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list carries the TS012 for the rear reservoir of the Panigale 959 from 2017 to 2019, with the Corse variants of 2018 and 2019 named in the same entry. The cap replaces the original part and the reservoir stays put. We list the same item for the Hyperstrada 821, the Diavel 1260 and Aprilia's Dorsoduro 1200. If anything at the rear master cylinder has been changed, check against the maker's list first. Accossato also offers the FP004 at the engine, the FP007 at the clutch and the TS003 at the front brake of this bike.
Road Approval
An ABE or any other form of test approval for the TS012 is not something we can document, so the cap is sold for racing and competition purposes.
