DescriptionThe whole story▼
When Honda built the CB1000R, it gave the naked bike a four-cylinder engine derived from the Fireblade and a single-sided swingarm, and the version with ABS was sold as the CB1000RA. An engine with that much pull out of slow corners makes the bike a natural candidate for hill climbs, where a mountain road is closed for the day and the course is little more than a string of hairpins. Accossato lists the FC109 for the CB1000R from 2009 to 2015: a quick-release fuel tank cap, made wholly from CNC-machined aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl and a coloured pin.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Honda CB1000R and CB1000RA, 2009 to 2015
- Machined completely from aluminium on CNC machines
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank quickly
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl available on its own
- Accossato part number FC109
- No German ABE on file; for circuits and closed courses
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the FC109 entirely in aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, and describes the cap as robust and durable, with a new, attractive design. Operation relies on a quick-closing pawl, so the tank of the CB1000R opens and closes in a moment, and the pawl wears a pin in one of six colours, from gold to black. If a knock in the paddock damages that pawl, it can be bought separately from Accossato while the rest of the cap carries on.
Waiting in the Hill Climb Paddock
A hill climb paddock is usually a car park or a stretch of closed road below the start, with vans parked nose to tail and riders called up in small groups. Each run lasts only minutes, but the waiting between runs can take hours, and the fuel used on a short, steep course is easy to underestimate, because so much of it goes on hard acceleration out of hairpins. Check the level before every run rather than once in the morning. Refuel only when the CB1000R is back, switched off and standing level; many of these paddocks slope, and a bike leaning on its side stand across a camber can spill from an open filler. There is rarely a fuel station close by, so bring enough in cans and keep them upright, closed and shaded. Close the pawl, give the cap a firm check by hand and wipe the tank before you ride back to the queue.
Fitment and Compatibility
The CB 1000 R appears on Accossato's list for the FC109 from 2009 to 2015, and we list the product for both the CB1000R and the ABS version sold as the CB1000RA. Three other Hondas share this cap in our range: the CBR 600 RR, the CBR 1000 RR and the VFR1200F. Compare your bike's year with the list, or send us the details, before placing an order.
Road Approval
This cap comes without a German ABE or a documented parts certificate and is therefore sold for the circuit and for closed courses. The CB1000R's standard cap normally locks with the ignition key; for public roads, refit it.
