DescriptionThe whole story▼
Like most 250 four-strokes, the KTM 250 XC-F pulls hardest high in the rev range, and in slow, slippery going it can bog down if the engine speed is allowed to sag. Cross-country racers answer that with the clutch: a small slip here and there that keeps the engine spinning where it pulls. The C7283 is built for that kind of work. Accossato lists it for the 250 XC-F of 2007 to 2022, with a blade long enough for four fingers and hinged at the base, so a tip-over need not cost you the clutch.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the KTM 250 XC-F, 2007 to 2022
- Listed for the 2007–2013 and the 2014–2022 bikes
- Takes the place of the original lever at the clutch mount
- Long four-finger blade as Accossato designs it
- Anti-break joint lets the blade tip forward in a crash
- Solid Ergal 7075, CNC-machined in Italy
- Black, blue, orange or red for the blade
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato starts with a solid block of Ergal 7075 and lets CNC machines in Italy remove material until only the lever is left. The 7075 grade is known among aluminium alloys for its high strength, and Accossato gives three reasons for using it: strength, low weight and reliability. The finished C7283 has a dark base that stays on the pivot and a coloured blade, black, blue, orange or red, attached by the folding joint. Being the clutch lever of the pair, it is the longer one, with space for all four fingers.
Keeping the Revs Up
Riders who move to the 250 XC-F from a bigger four-stroke often stall it at first. A tight uphill turn on greasy clay is the classic place: the bike slows, the revs sink, the engine stutters and stops, and with no momentum the rider has to catch a leaning machine on a slope. The cure is to hold the engine a little higher than feels natural and to use the clutch as a buffer. Slip it to keep the revs up as the bike slows into the turn, feed it out as the rear tyre starts to drive and slip it again the moment the engine note drops.
That is constant, delicate work for the left hand, and a long blade helps by letting four fingers share it. When the timing goes wrong anyway and the 250 XC-F settles onto its left side, the lever is close to the ground. Accossato's joint allows the blade to fold forward instead of absorbing the whole knock, so it has a good chance of still working once the bike is upright. Nothing guarantees that, of course, but it removes one reason to push a KTM 250 XC-F out of the woods.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 fits the KTM 250 XC-F from 2007 to 2022, in both groups Accossato lists, 2007 to 2013 and 2014 to 2022. It replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount. The matching B8283 brake lever covers 2014 to 2022, so an earlier bike can have the folding lever on the left only. If you want both blades in one colour, choose black, blue or orange; red exists for this clutch lever alone.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283, and it is supplied for off-road riding and competition only.
