DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Shiver 750 arrived in 2007 with a ride-by-wire throttle and a choice of engine maps, a rare feature on a middleweight naked at the time. The maps change how the V-twin responds to the right hand, but they do nothing for the left: pulling away on a wet road still depends on how smoothly the clutch is released. The Accossato ESC023 is a clutch lever for the Shiver 750, listed from 2007 to 2017, CNC-machined from aluminium, with a reach adjuster and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Aprilia Shiver 750, 2007 to 2017
- Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjuster to position the blade for your fingers
- Long blade in blue, gold, green or orange for fine metering
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short blade in five colours
- Anodised aluminium, black hub, seven blade colours
- Machined in one piece with no folding joint
- Sold for track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the ESC023 on CNC equipment from a solid block of aluminium, which gives the blade a consistent profile and clean edges where your fingers rest. The lever is then anodised, the hub black and the blade in the colour of your choice, with the colour formed within the surface instead of sprayed on top. Pivot and reach adjuster sit in the hub. The blade is fixed and in one piece to its tip, so there is no second joint where play could develop.
Three Maps, One Left Hand
On a dry road, many Shiver 750 riders leave the engine in its liveliest map and never give the clutch a thought. A wet morning changes the picture: painted lines at a junction, a manhole cover, a film of diesel near a fuel station. Selecting the gentlest map softens the throttle, which helps, but the moment the drive reaches the rear tyre is still set by the clutch. Release it abruptly and the rear can step sideways on a slippery surface before the throttle has done anything at all.
A calm, progressive release starts with a lever you can feel. Set the ESC023 so the friction point lands with your fingers slightly curled, then practise pulling away with only a whisper of throttle, letting the clutch do the work. On wet days, aim the take-off at clean tarmac beside the painted lines wherever you can. The long blade, made in blue, gold, green and orange, spreads the engagement over a longer finger movement and makes it easier to meter. The standard blade of about 138 mm, available in all seven colours, remains the everyday choice closest to the original.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESC023 for the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2017. It fits at the original clutch mounting in place of the standard lever. The front brake of the Shiver 750 is covered by the EDF023 for the same years, and both levers share the black hub and the seven blade colours if you want a matching pair.
Road Approval
A documented German ABE does not exist for this clutch lever; we therefore sell it for use on the track.
