DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ABSK 001 removes the Z400's anti-lock modulator out of the system and answers the checks behind it.
Key Features
- Kawasaki Z400 (2019–2023)
- Takes the ABS unit out of the braking circuit
- No warning lamp and no stored fault
- Plugs into Kawasaki's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard parts refit at any time
The Naked Ninja 400
Same engine, same frame, higher bars and no fairing. Kawasaki's Sugomi styling divided opinion and the motorcycle underneath never did.
A Hundred and Sixty-Seven Kilograms
Wet, which is barely more than the faired bike and light enough that the Z400 flatters a rider who has not yet learnt to be smooth.
What Comes Out
The modulator, its pump and the additional brake lines running to and from it. Together they account for a couple of kilograms and a considerable amount of plumbing behind the bodywork.
What the Emulator Does
It answers the checks the controller performs, so the display stays clean and nothing is stored. That is the difference between a converted motorcycle and one with a fault light on it.
Lever Feel
A direct hydraulic path behaves differently from one routed through a modulator. It is a small change and it is measurable to a rider braking at the absolute limit.
Keep the Parts
The modulator and its brackets are worth money and refit without modification. Storing them is the whole cost of being able to return the motorcycle to standard.
Keep the Modulator
It refits with its original brackets and it is worth money. Storing it is the entire cost of being able to return the bike to standard.
Light Enough to Feel It
On a motorcycle weighing 167 kilograms, removing two kilograms of modulator and its plumbing is a larger proportional change than the same removal on a litre bike. That is why the small machines are converted most often.
A Steel Trellis
Shared with the Ninja and the reason both handle considerably better than the 300s they replaced. Kawasaki spent the development money where it made a difference.
