DescriptionThe whole story▼

For many riders the CB500F is the first real motorcycle after the training bike. Honda's A2-friendly naked twin is easy to get on with, but even easy bikes punish one classic beginner's mistake: a tight turn at walking pace with the front brake grabbed at the wrong moment. With the handlebar turned, the bike folds towards the inside of the turn in an instant, and in a right-hand turn it lands on the brake lever. For the CB500F of 2022 to 2024, Accossato lists the AGD207, a silver replacement brake lever in the original form.

Key Features

  • Original-type replacement brake lever for the Honda CB500F
  • Model years 2022 to 2024; Accossato's entry reads CB 500 F Hornet
  • Silver
  • Right-hand lever for the front brake
  • Designed by Accossato to offer good value for money
  • Accossato says its manufacturing method improves resistance after damage or a crash
  • One lever
  • No ABE or test mark; for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

The AGD207 is a spare of the original type. It follows the form of the brake lever Honda fitted, so the CB500F keeps its standard cockpit, and Accossato developed it with good value for money as the aim, a sensible match for a bike that is so often its owner's first. The company states that its manufacturing process makes these levers more resistant after damage or collisions. It is silver, and the maker publishes no further details.

A Tight Turn and a Squeeze Too Many

At walking pace a motorcycle is kept upright by a combination of steering, speed and the rider's balance. Turn the handlebar sharply and brake hard with the front wheel, and the front tyre stops rolling while the bike is leaning, so it falls to the inside of the turn. Riding instructors teach a simple rule for slow manoeuvres: once the handlebar is turned, keep the front brake out of it. Control the speed with the clutch and a steady throttle, and use the rear brake gently if you need to slow down. Look where you want to go, not at the ground in front of the wheel. Practise these turns in an empty car park until they feel natural. If you do drop the CB500F, switch off the engine before lifting it, use your legs rather than your back, and check the right side before riding on. A bent lever sits closer to or further from the grip than before and may not spring back fully, so replace it. After fitting, check the brake light, the lever's movement and a firm pressure point with the bike standing still.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's entry for this lever reads CB 500 F Hornet, 2022 to 2024, which reflects the fact that, in Europe, Honda's naked 500 carries the Hornet name from the 2024 model year. The AGD207 is the only replacement brake lever on the list for this bike. The same lever is also catalogued with us for the CB500X, the CB650F and the NX500. If you prefer a tuning part, Accossato's CNC brake lever for the CB500F of these years is EDF018. Compare the product photo with the lever on your bike before ordering.

Road Approval

We have not been given an ABE or test mark for the AGD207. Our listing is therefore for racing and competition.
