DescriptionThe whole story▼

Sand is the terrain the rally look promises, and the Honda CRF250 Rally, with its fairing and twin headlights, wears that look better than most small bikes. Riding it in deep sand is another matter. The front wheel wants to dig in and wander, and the rider's instinct to slow down and sit only makes things worse. Standing, with the weight shifted back through the footpegs, is what keeps the bike afloat. Accossato makes enlarged Ergal footpegs for the CRF250 Rally of 2017 to 2020 in five colours.

Key Features

  • Enlarged off-road footpegs for the Honda CRF250 Rally, 2017 to 2020
  • Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
  • Broader footing when the weight moves back in soft ground
  • For motocross, enduro and off-road bikes, as Accossato specifies
  • Five colours, including red and Titanium
  • Two pegs: left and right
  • Same set listed for the CRF450X and CRF230F
  • No approval documents; competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Enlarged, made of Ergal, intended for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles: that is the whole of Accossato's description. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy, and the extra size gives the boot a firmer, broader place to stand. On a rally-styled trail bike that support is put to use whenever the surface turns soft. Both pegs come in the same colour, chosen from orange, blue, black, red and Titanium.

Weight Back in the Sand

In soft sand a motorcycle needs momentum and a light front wheel. Stand up, move your weight towards the back of the pegs, keep the knees bent and let the handlebar move a little in your hands. Hold the throttle open steadily: the rear wheel drives, the front floats, and the bike keeps tracking straight even while it squirms. Shutting the throttle abruptly pitches the weight forward, the front digs in and the bike slows sharply, often throwing the rider towards the handlebar.

Turning in sand is done with the feet as much as with the bars. Push down on the peg on the outside of the turn, keep the drive on and let the bike carve a wider arc than it would on firm ground. On the CRF250 Rally, which carries more bodywork than a plain trail bike, this takes some getting used to, but the principle is the same on any off-road machine. The footpegs are where the rider's weight meets the bike, and in sand, where so much depends on that weight, a broader surface under the sole helps the rider stay in position.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the CRF250 Rally from 2017 to 2020, and our garage entry covers the same years. There is no other Accossato footpeg for the model. The pair is also offered for the CRF450X and for the little CRF230F trail bike. After fitting, check that each peg returns after folding and that the brake pedal is still easy to reach from a standing position.

Road Approval

There is no ABE or approval document for these footpegs in our possession, which is why we list them for competition use.

Scope of Delivery

Two footpegs, one left and one right, in orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.
