DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few moments in town traffic are as exposed as waiting to turn across the oncoming lane. The gap arrives, and the bike has to move off briskly and without hesitation, because a stall in the middle of the junction leaves you standing in the path of the traffic you were waiting for. On a Kawasaki Z300 that sure start is a job for the left hand. The Accossato ESK025 is a clutch lever for the Z300 of 2015 to 2018, with an adjustable span and a choice of blade lengths. It is milled from aluminium, anodised and fitted at the original clutch mounting.
Key Features
- For the Kawasaki Z300, model years 2015 to 2018
- Replaces the clutch lever at the original mounting
- Adjustable span, closer to the grip or further out
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade of about 138 mm in all seven colours
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium; black hub
- Rigid, without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Fingers that spend a whole commute on a lever notice its shape. The ESK025's curve and its rounded contact face are cut on CNC machines from aluminium, so every lever comes out with the same dimensions and no rough edges. Anodising follows: the hub comes out black, the blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green, and because the colour is bound into the oxide layer, it does not rub off where the fingers sit. The lever is one fixed part, with no folding mechanism between hub and tip.
Turning Across Oncoming Traffic
Preparation makes the difference. While you wait, keep first gear selected and the clutch pulled in, with the front wheel pointing straight ahead rather than already turned, so that a push from behind would not send you into the oncoming lane. When the gap comes, bring the revs up a little, feed the clutch through the bite point smoothly and look where you want to go. What matters is knowing exactly where the bite point is without searching for it, so set the ESK025 on the Z300 until the take-up arrives with the fingers comfortably curled. On a small twin, a few more revs than feel necessary are cheap insurance against a stall. If you are still learning, practise in a quiet street: stop, wait, go, with a firm but smooth take-up each time. The long blade makes the pull lighter, which helps when the lever is held in through a long wait.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our listing of the ESK025 covers the Kawasaki Z300 from 2015, its first model year, to 2018. Accossato enters the bike as Z 300 with a start date that lies before the model existed, so this product follows the real production years instead. The lever takes over from the original one at the clutch mounting. Its counterpart for the right hand is the EDF025 brake lever, for the same Z300 years and in the same seven colours.
Road Approval
Accossato has not documented a German ABE for this lever, so it is sold for racing and track use.
