DescriptionThe whole story▼
Honda called the CB1000R's style Neo Sports Café, and plenty of its rides end at an actual café: a spirited run along a good road, then a slow roll into a crowded car park where the bike has to be threaded between kerbs, tables and other machines. That last hundred metres is all clutch work. Accossato's ESY688H, a machined aluminium lever for the CB1000R of 2018 to 2024, lets you move the clutch's bite point to where your hand works most comfortably.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda CB1000R, 2018 to 2024
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach for holding the friction zone comfortably
- Available short, standard (approx. 138 mm) and long
- Black hub; blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Fixed construction without a hinge
- For track use: no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Two finishes meet on the ESY688H: the black of the hub, which holds the pivot bore and the adjuster, and the colour you pick for the blade. Both come from anodising the CNC-machined aluminium. There is no folding mechanism, so the lever moves as one rigid piece and the friction zone always arrives at the same point in its travel. For slow manoeuvres on the CB1000R, where you hold the clutch half-engaged for several seconds at a time, that repeatability is worth more than any styling detail.
Parking Up at the Café
Low-speed riding on a big naked is mostly a conversation between the clutch and the rear brake. Keep the engine at a steady, slightly raised idle, let the clutch out until the bike creeps forward, and regulate the speed with the lever and a light touch on the rear brake rather than with the throttle. Turn your head and look where you want the bike to go, not at the kerb you are trying to avoid. Done like this, a CB1000R can be walked through a tight gap at little more than a stroll, upright and settled. What undoes the technique is a tired or overstretched hand. If the bite point lies at the edge of your reach, the fingers soon ache and the clutch starts to snatch. Bring the ESY688H closer until you can hold the friction zone with relaxed fingers, and consider the long blade, which lowers the effort of holding the clutch half in.
Fitment and Compatibility
The CB1000R from 2018 to 2024 is covered by Accossato's listing for the ESY688H, a span that runs from the launch of the Neo Sports Café generation through its later updates, and it fits at the original clutch mounting. For the brake side, Accossato's EDF033 is listed for the 2018 and 2019 bikes. Short blades come in blue, gold, green, orange and silver, long ones in blue, gold, green and orange, while black and red are standard length only.
