DescriptionThe whole story▼
A TIGER 800 XRT rider is rarely in a hurry and frequently in a difficult place. ZCOO covers the Triumph TIGER 800 XRT with the N007, a 101.5 by 39.0 mm face carried on 8.0 mm of total section. The N007 carries EX Race, the control-oriented of ZCOO's two ceramic mixtures.
Key Features
- Country of origin Japan; ZCOO does not source its friction material outside its own plant
- Quiet in normal use and low on dust, so the TIGER 800 XRT does not pay for its brakes in wheel cleaning
- Low noise and low rotor scoring, which on a TIGER 800 XRT means the discs outlast several sets of pads
- Ceramic-sintered EX Race compound: on the TIGER 800 XRT the braking force rises in proportion to lever pressure instead of snapping in
- Laser-cut backing plate holds the friction face flat when the Nissin caliper spreads under peak line pressure
- Rotor-friendly by formulation: the TIGER 800 XRT discs see a ceramic film rather than an abrasive
Construction and Material Quality
Two things define how a N007 behaves: the ceramic mixture and the plate under it. Expansion gaps between the friction blocks let the N007 material grow into the gaps when hot instead of building stress against itself. Everything about the N007 plate is there to stop the friction face going out of true.
Performance and Feel
The defining property of the EX Race mixture in the N007 is a flat friction curve. That band covers everything a TIGER 800 XRT meets, from a cold first stop to a long descent. Two up and loaded, the Triumph TIGER 800 XRT needs a pad that does not soften halfway down.
Fitment and Compatibility
Fitment covers the Triumph TIGER 800 XRT from 2015 to 2017 with the Nissin caliper. The N007 fits the front axle of the TIGER 800 XRT and nothing else. The same N007 shape covers 70 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 101.5 mm length and 39.0 mm height.
Road Approval
No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
