Sprint Filter T12 Air Filter for Off-Road & Extreme – Honda CBR600RR (2021–2026) SM262T12

This is the far end of a range, and the far end deserves a plain description. Sprint Filter builds an element for the CBR600RR housing in four cloths, and the T12 is the densest of them: a polyester non-woven specified at 7 µm and 560 l/m²/sec. The standard weave for the same airbox is rated at 80 µm and 5,050. Set one against the other and the rated flow differs by a factor of nine — and that factor is charged on every kilometre, on clean days as well as dirty ones, because the cloth does not know which sort of day it is.

The last intake decision left to the owner

By the time a motorcycle reaches a buyer, almost everything in the intake path is settled. The housing volume, the inlet, the throttle bodies and the fuelling were fixed at the factory and are not sensibly changed. The cloth inside the box is the one variable still open, and it is open in both directions: a few airbox screws put a different specification in and the previous one back. The T12 marks the outer limit of that choice, the point past which Sprint Filter's own range does not go.

Who it is honestly for

Not, for most owners, a fully faired supersport on European roads and circuits. The T12 earns its keep where dust is a property of the climate rather than an event — where mineral particles are in the air as a matter of course and what passes a looser cloth is counted in engine life rather than in service intervals. It is worth saying clearly that no element makes a standard CBR600RR stronger, and this one deliberately trades flow away. Chosen for the right air, that is a bargain; chosen for the wrong air, it is a bill with nothing on the other side.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean face outward is the routine, and with a mat this dense it is worth taking time over. When air is not enough, wash the SM262T12 in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly. Drying is the part that cannot be hurried: open air only, never a heat source and never a flame, and the element goes back in dry and with nothing applied to it.
