Rally is a specification, not a weather report. It arrives as a set of choices the factory made about how the machine is equipped, and it tells an air filter nothing about what will be drawn through it, because that is decided by the roads under the bike and by nothing else. Which is why the fitment list treats this machine exactly as it treats the other two on the code, and why the sensible way to pick a medium here is to describe your own riding rather than read the side panel. PM210S is the road and track choice for this box.
Key Features
- Woven polyester in one layer, run dry: no oil when new and none after any wash
- An 80 µm weave rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec, Sprint Filter's road and track specification
- Polyester threads from ø 22 microns across; the gap left between them is a separate figure
- About double the filtering cloth of a conventional performance element, in the original frame
- Takes the paper element's seat directly — nothing trimmed, no adapter, no remap
- Serviced with a compressed-air line, reusable, two-year warranty from the date of purchase
A model name is not an operating condition
Sprint Filter catalogues three media against this airbox, and they are not a ranking. The woven panel here filters at 80 µm and is rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec. The P14 in the same housing is a dry nonwoven at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec: far more held back, roughly a third of the flow. The third, the F1-85, goes the other way at 85 µm and 15,000 l/m²/sec, drawn for racing. Finer cloth holds more and passes less, every time. So the question is never which is best but which road you are actually on. If the answer is sealed surfaces most of the time, this is the one.
Being straight about the gain
An element pushed into an untouched airbox does not make a standard 1200 noticeably stronger. That claim gets made across this whole category and it does not survive contact with a dyno. The real return is duller and more useful: an intake resistance that starts low, spreads its load over a large area so it climbs slowly, and can be put back where it started at every service — plus a part that is cleaned instead of reordered for as long as the motorcycle is on the road.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air does the ordinary work. Point the nozzle at the clean side of the PM210S and drive the dust back out through the face it entered, never the other way. Oily haze that resists air comes off under hand-warm water with a little mild detergent; rinse until nothing further leaves the cloth. Drying is the step that gets ruined in a hurry — ambient moving air only, no hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame. Refit the panel dry, with nothing applied to it, and keep the maintenance sheet from the Downloads tab where you will find it again.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Indian FTR 1200 Rally, model years 2020 to 2026, one element per bike. The same code covers two more machines from the same family, the FTR/S from 2019 and the Carbon from 2020, three in total. Confirm your own year under the Fitment tab before ordering.
