DescriptionThe whole story▼
Three outlets, one for each cylinder of the R9's triple, arranged behind a mesh grid borrowed from MotoGP practice. The Triade is the most distinctive exhaust Spark builds for this platform, and unlike the racing systems it is homologated: catalytic converter in place, EC certificate in the box, 5.7 kg against the 7.0 kg factory unit.
Key Features
- Three-outlet Triade design — one exit per cylinder, finished with a MotoGP-style mesh grid.
- AISI 304 stainless steel manifold with a Euro 5 catalytic converter.
- Pre-silencer box carrying the three outlets, so the noise control happens upstream of what you see.
- Scotch-brite stainless finish — the natural, lightly brushed surface.
- 5.7 kg against 7.0 kg standard, a saving of 1.3 kg with the catalyst retained.
- EC homologation certificate supplied by Spark.
- Not compatible with a centre stand.
Build Quality & Materials
Stainless steel throughout the gas path, finished Scotch-brite: a fine directional brush that leaves the metal matte rather than mirror-bright. It is a finish that ages well, because it does not show the fine scratching that a polished surface collects from cleaning cloths and boot heels.
The three outlets are not decoration bolted to a single chamber — they are the visible end of a pre-silencer box that does the acoustic work. Spark finishes them with a mesh insert, a detail lifted straight from prototype racing where the grid protects the outlet without adding restriction. The same system is offered with a black ceramic coating as GYA8898BOM if you want the outlets to disappear against dark bodywork.
Performance & Sound
Because this is a homologated system with an intact Euro 5 catalyst, the character is road-legal rather than race-loud: fuller and harder than standard, but within the limits printed on the certificate. Spark publishes the weight and the approval for this system, not a decibel figure — if you need a number for a specific circuit, ask us and we will request the measurement sheet.
The three-into-three exit geometry is what gives the Triade its identity. On a triple, splitting the outlets means each cylinder's pulse leaves the system without merging at the tip, which is audible as a cleaner separation of the firing order at low revs.
Fitment & Compatibility
Spark lists this system for the MT-09 (2021-2026), the XSR 900 (2022-2025) and the YZF R9 (2025-2026). One engine and frame across all three, so one exhaust covers them. Plan around one limitation: a centre stand cannot be retained alongside this system. Spark builds a re-routed Tracer 9 variant precisely because touring riders need that stand, so ask us about it if your R9 does long distances.
Road Approval
An EC homologation certificate is included. Note the asterisk against this entry in Spark's list: the approval is written for specific model years and emission classes rather than the model line as a whole, so the paperwork has to be matched to the individual bike. We will do that check for you — tell us the model year and we will confirm before dispatch.
