Luggage on a Hundred and Seventy-Five Horsepower
KTM's answer to the sport tourer question was to leave the engine alone and add a fairing, a screen and panniers. The GT does not ask the rider to accept less performance in exchange for practicality, which is unusual and largely the point.
A Longer Wheelbase
The GT stretches the Super Duke's chassis, which settles the front under power and makes the bike considerably calmer at motorway speeds. It gives up some agility and gains stability, and on a loaded machine that trade is clearly correct.
Aligned Means Square to the Bar
Both clamp bolts on one line perpendicular to the tube, which is how KTM's own master cylinder is built. Touring riders replace brakes less often than track riders, so this is the drilling most GTs will need.
The Right Hand on a Long Day
Mode selection and the heated grip level are reached with the throttle hand, repeatedly, across hundreds of kilometres. It is a use pattern no sports bike produces and it is why touring machines wear their controls smooth first.
Bar Space Is Contested
Between a mount, a guard and the brake clamp, the right-hand tube fills quickly on a GT. A drilling cut for the known geometry sits tighter to the cylinder than a plate designed to accept either, and those millimetres are usable.
Water Finds the Underside
A screen deflects air over the chest and leaves the bars in the airstream. Rain runs along the tube and reaches the switch from below, which is where a two-part shell has its joint and a machined body does not.
Black Anodised
One finish, through the surface rather than on it. Against a large display, a screen adjuster and whatever else has accumulated, the component that draws no attention is the right one.
