DescriptionThe whole story▼

One and three quarter kilograms saved on a motorcycle that weighs 106 without fuel. That is the largest proportional weight reduction of any CRF250R system Akrapovic builds, and it comes from the generation with the heaviest standard exhaust.

Key Features

  • Down to 3.66 kg from a standard 5.4 — nearly a third gone
  • Peak output climbs to 40.2 PS, half a horsepower above standard
  • Torque reaches 26.7 Nm, an increase of 1.4 measured low at 5,600 rpm
  • Ultra-lightweight titanium throughout
  • Used and tested by Akrapovic's factory race teams
  • Closed course competition use only

Honda's Heaviest CRF250 Exhaust

The 2018 and 2019 machines carry a 5.4 kg standard system — heavier than the 2022 generation's 3.34 kg and heavier than the 450's. Honda had introduced a twin-exhaust layout for these years, with a silencer on each side, and two of anything weighs more than one.

That is why this system saves proportionally more than its successors do. There was simply more to remove.

The Flagship, and What That Means

Akrapovic calls the Evolution Line the finest exhaust system available and says its factory teams use and test it. On a road bike that language would be marketing; in motocross the same part genuinely does go on works machinery, because the sport has no homologation rules forcing a difference.

Torque Down Low

1.4 Nm at 5,600 rpm on a 250 four-stroke. These engines are weakest exactly there — off the bottom, coming out of a corner in too high a gear — and an exhaust that fills that in is doing more for lap times than another half horsepower at the top would.

Two Silencers, One Number

The 2018 and 2019 CRF250R carries a silencer on each side, and this part number covers the pair. That is worth knowing before comparing prices with a single-silencer system for another year — you are buying two of everything.

An Hour of Work

Sixty minutes for a complete system on a motocross bike is quick, and it is deliberate: these exhausts come off for cleaning after every meeting, and a design that fought back would not last a season in a race workshop.

The Twin-Silencer Years

Honda ran the twin-silencer CRF250R from 2018 until the 2022 redesign brought back a single unit. This part number covers the first two of those years; Akrapovic lists S-H2MET12-CIQTA for the same system across 2018 to 2021, and either will fit a 2018 or 2019 machine.

Flagship Means Factory

Akrapovic supplies the same Evolution Line to its factory race teams that it sells over the counter. In motocross there is no homologation rule creating a separate works part, so the system on a world championship bike and the one in the box are the same design.

That is unusual, and it is much of what the price reflects.

Fitment and Compatibility

S-H2MET10-CIQTA covers the Honda CRF250R and CRF250RX for model years 2018 and 2019. Honda revised the CRF250R again for 2022; that machine takes S-H2MET13-FDHLTA.

Road Approval

None. For closed course competition use only. Not intended for street use.
