DescriptionThe whole story▼
An MT-09 SP from 2018 to 2023 that serves as its owner's only motorcycle has to cope with everything from January frost to August heat. Accossato's AGPA97ST is the front pad for that generation of SP in the Sintered (ST) compound. It is designed for riders who commute in all weathers, sometimes carry a passenger and do not want the front brake to feel different from one season to the next.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Yamaha MT-09 SP, 2018 to 2023
- Article AGPA97ST, the AGPA97 plate with sintered material
- Accossato claims constant grip from cold to hot and good wet performance
- For year-round commuting and occasional two-up riding
- Two pads per box, one caliper's worth
- Twin front calipers on the SP: order two boxes
- The 2024-on SP uses the AGPA106 pad instead
- Offered for track and competition; no German ABE on file
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's sintered compound on the AGPA97 plate is described by the company as holding a high, stable grip level at low and high temperatures and gripping well on a wet disc. For an SP ridden throughout the year, that is the property that matters. The pad is the same shape as the other compounds for this generation, so fitting is routine. Accossato's design goals of long life and reduced fade apply here too.
One Bike, Every Season
Riding an SP through winter means frosty mornings, salted roads and spray from lorries. The front brake starts cold, stays cold for much of the ride and is used on wet discs. A sintered pad handles this without the lever feel wandering. It also copes with the extra weight of a passenger on weekend rides. The cost of all-weather riding is faster wear, because grit and salt act as an abrasive, so check the pads more often from November to March. Rinse the calipers after salty rides and look at the pistons for signs of sticking.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato fits the AGPA97 to the front of the Yamaha MT-09 SP from 2018 to 2023. The SP from 2024 onwards requires the AGPA106, and all SPs from 2018 to 2026 use the AGPP88 at the rear. Buy two boxes for the two front calipers and fit both together. Clean the pistons, check the discs, and replace the fluid if it has darkened. Accossato also lists the DK077 and DKS073 discs for the SP.
Road Approval
Our records contain no German ABE or approval documents for this pad. The AGPA97ST is therefore sold for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPA97 pads in Sintered (ST) compound in one box, for one front caliper of the 2018 to 2023 MT-09 SP.
