DescriptionThe whole story▼

A CRF150F that has spent the winter in a shed rarely starts the new season as it ended the last one. Honda's small trail bike is simple and forgiving, but months of standing still leave the clutch cable stiff, the pivot grease dry and any damage from autumn's last ride still waiting to be dealt with. A clutch lever bent in October is easy to forget until the first spring morning. For the CRF150F of 2003 to 2017, Accossato lists the AGS196, a silver replacement clutch lever of the original type.

Key Features

  • Replacement clutch lever of the original type for the Honda CRF150F
  • For the model years 2003 to 2017
  • Silver
  • Left side of the handlebar, cable-operated clutch
  • A value-for-money spare from Accossato
  • Accossato states that its manufacturing process increases resistance after damage or falls
  • One lever
  • No German ABE or test mark; listed for racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The AGS196 is made in the pattern of the clutch lever Honda fitted, so the left-hand controls of the CRF150F look and feel as they should once it is in place. Accossato developed it as a spare that offers good value for money, and it credits its production method with making these levers more resistant after damage or a fall. The lever is silver. Accossato provides no further technical information, and neither material nor dimensions are given here.

Before the First Ride of Spring

A short routine gets a small trail bike ready after the winter. Charge or check the battery if the bike has one, look at the tyres for pressure and cracks, and clean and lubricate the chain. Then turn to the clutch. Pull the lever slowly and feel for any roughness or sticking; a cable that has dried out over the winter feels notchy and may not let the lever return fully. If the lever itself was bent last season, now is the moment to replace it. Unhook the cable by giving it slack at the lever end, remove the pivot, wipe the pivot and its bore clean, grease them lightly and fit the AGS196. With the cable back in place, set the free play at the lever to the figure in the owner's manual, so the clutch neither slips nor drags. Start the engine, let it warm up, and check that the bike moves off smoothly as you release the lever in first gear before you head for the trail.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGS196 for the CRF150F from 2003 to 2017, and it is the only original-type clutch lever given for this bike. At Inter-Pace the same lever also appears under the CRF230F. For the brake side, Accossato names three replacement levers for these years, the AGD275, the AGD278 and the AGD93, which differ in shape rather than in year, so compare them with the lever on your bike. If you prefer a tuning part, Accossato's CNC levers for the CRF150F are C7103 for the clutch and B8206 for the brake.

Road Approval

The AGS196 has no German ABE and no test mark, as there are no approval documents for it in our files. It is therefore listed for racing and competition.
