DescriptionThe whole story▼
KTM added a sharper R version to the RC 390, aimed at riders who take their small sports bike racing, and Accossato lists that RC 390 R for 2018. Anyone who races one knows the last quarter of an hour before a start: the call to the holding area, the wait in sun or drizzle, the warm-up lap and then the lights. Nothing can be fixed once the bikes are lined up, so every check has to happen earlier. The FC127 suits that way of working: a quick-release fuel tank cap in CNC-machined aluminium, with a pawl whose pin comes in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the KTM RC 390 R, model year 2018
- Machined completely from aluminium by CNC
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin in one of six colours: black, blue, silver, green, red, gold
- Pawl available as a separate spare
- New design, robust and durable in Accossato's words
- No German ABE documented; for racing and track days
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium makes up the whole body of the FC127, CNC-machined, and Accossato describes the cap as sturdy and long-lasting, with a new design. On race day the part that counts is the quick-closing pawl, which opens the RC 390 R's filler quickly and shuts it again with the same speed. The pin sitting on the pawl can be ordered in any of six colours. A bent or broken pawl is not the end of the cap either, since Accossato sells replacements individually.
The Minutes Before the Holding Area
The holding area is where race nerves peak and where nothing can be repaired, so every job belongs in the paddock beforehand. Plan the fuel with that in mind. Know how much your RC 390 R uses for the warm-up lap, the race and the lap back in, add a margin, and fill up well before the call rather than at the last minute. Once the fuel is in, close the pawl, press down on the cap and run a finger around its edge to be sure nothing is wet. Clean the tank top too, since a film of fuel there makes it slippery for your knees and chest when you are tucked in on the straight. Then leave the filler alone. In the holding area, use the time for breathing and for a last word with whoever is helping you, not for the fuel. If a marshal or a scrutineer points at something before the start, it should be a small thing, and it should never be the filler cap that keeps you out of the race.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC127 for the RC 390 R of 2018, and that single model year is what this product covers. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also listed for the standard RC 390 and for the 390 Duke. If you are unsure about your bike's year or version, check Accossato's list or ask us first.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are on record for the FC127, so we sell it for the circuit. If your RC 390 R is still registered for the road, its original cap, which usually locks with the ignition key, belongs on it whenever it leaves the track.
Scope of Delivery
