DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders new to the BMW F700GS often walk to the front of the bike to refuel and find nothing there to open. Like its F800 siblings, the F700GS carries its fuel tank low down beneath the seat, and the filler sits on the right-hand side, behind the rider's seat. The arrangement keeps weight low and puts the cap somewhere most people do not expect. Accossato's FC103 is a quick-release cap for that filler, machined from aluminium, with the pawl colour chosen by you.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the BMW F700GS, 2011 to 2017
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing quickly
- Pin colour: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl sold separately as a replacement
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE documented; for the track and closed ground
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, founded in Moncalieri in 1969, makes the FC103 entirely from CNC-machined aluminium and describes it as robust and durable. The design is new. On a filler that sits on the flank of the F700GS, the quick-closing pawl is a practical detail: it opens the tank quickly and closes it again just as fast. The pawl is available in six colours, and a damaged one can be replaced on its own.
A Filler in an Unexpected Place
The position has practical consequences. On a closed training ground or at a circuit, you refuel the F700GS standing at its right-hand side, which means deciding where the can will stand before you start pouring. Luggage can get in the way, so side bags or rack parts on that side may need moving first. Because the cap sits on the flank of the bike rather than on top of a tank, any drips run down the bodywork, so keep a cloth ready and wipe them off at once. After each outing, check that the pawl is closed and clean, since the flanks of an adventure bike collect dust and dirt thrown up by the rear wheel. The FC103 opens and closes quickly, and its aluminium body and coloured pawl make the filler easy to find for anyone who has never refuelled an F700GS before.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list, the F 700 GS from 2011 to 2017 is one of many BMW entries for the FC103, which covers a large part of the brand's range. At Inter-Pace it is also listed for the F800GS, the F800R and the R nineT, among others. Check your bike carefully against the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
Neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate is documented for the FC103, so it is intended for closed tracks and grounds. The F700GS leaves the factory with a cap that normally locks with the ignition key, and that is the one to keep for road riding.
