DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Niken GT is the touring version of Yamaha's leaning three-wheeler, with more wind protection and comfort for long days in the saddle. Tours often start early, on cold roads still damp from the night, when neither tyres nor brakes are at working temperature. Accossato lists its DK077 for the Niken GT from 2019 to 2023. It is a floating front disc from the Elite line: 298 mm in diameter, 132 mm at the bore, 5 mm thick, with a black carrier and the Accossato logo on its rivets.

Key Features

  • Elite floating front disc for the Yamaha Niken GT, 2019 to 2023
  • 298 mm diameter, 5 mm thickness, 132 mm bore
  • Same thickness as the original disc, according to Accossato
  • Black carrier, Accossato logo on the rivets
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the ring
  • One disc per purchase; the Niken GT has one on each front wheel
  • No German ABE documented, for the track

Construction and Material Quality

The DK077 is built as a floating disc: the friction ring is riveted to a separate black carrier, and the joint gives the ring room to expand as it heats. Accossato's Elite discs keep the original thickness, in this case 5 mm, and carry the brand logo on their rivets. The company says its brake discs are shaped by racing experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, with close attention to the tolerances and clearance between ring and carrier, and it prints on every disc the thickness below which it must not be used.

Cold Starts on Tour

Brake pads and discs have a temperature range in which they grip as intended, and on a chilly morning they start well below it. The first stops after leaving the hotel on the Niken GT may feel less sharp than you remember from the afternoon before, particularly if dew or a light rust film sits on the discs. Use the brakes gently a few times in the first minutes to warm and clean them, and leave more space ahead while tyres and brakes come up to temperature. Condensation overnight in a cold garage does the discs no harm as long as they dry out during the ride; road salt is another matter, so rinse the wheels after riding on winter roads. At the end of a long tour, before the Niken GT is put away, clean the discs and check their thickness, so the next trip does not begin with a surprise.

Fitment and Compatibility

The Niken GT, model MXT 850 GT, appears on Accossato's list for the DK077 from 2019 to 2023. Each of its two front wheels has one disc, so a complete change takes two, and the price is for one. The DKS073 is the other disc Accossato lists for the Niken GT, with the same dimensions.

Road Approval

For the DK077 there is no German ABE and no type approval on file. It is offered for track use.

Scope of Delivery

One DK077 floating disc, black carrier, logo on the rivets.
