DescriptionThe whole story▼
Owners of a Monster 797 tend to keep it clean. The exposed trellis frame, the finned air-cooled engine and the round headlight only really come alive when they shine, and a Sunday morning with a bucket is part of the ritual. It is also a small risk. Soapy water, a smooth garage floor or a sloping drive, and someone scrubbing hard on the wrong side of the bike: that is how a freshly cleaned motorcycle ends up on its side. Accossato lists the TP090 crash pads for the Monster 797 of 2017 and 2018.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Monster 797, 2017 and 2018
- Accossato TP090, a pair per pack
- CNC-machined from aluminium
- Insert anodised in silver, gold, blue, green, red or black
- Screw cover in the same colour if wanted
- Some bikes need the fairing drilled: please ask us first
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the TP090 from aluminium on CNC machines and anodises its insert in silver, gold, blue, green, red or black. The screw cover comes in the insert's colour and can be ordered with the pads, or you can leave the fixing on show. Each pack holds two pads. On a bike as exposed as the Monster 797, they are there to be the first thing that meets the ground if it tips over, and that can reduce the harm to the frame and the parts close to it. A pad that has been hit hard is replaced rather than straightened.
Washing a Bike on Its Side Stand
A side stand was never designed for the pushing and pulling of a thorough wash. Bikes that fall during cleaning often go over away from the stand, when someone scrubs hard at the left side and pushes the machine upright, or they slip because the foot of the stand sits on a film of soap. A paddock stand gives a steadier base. Otherwise, park on rough concrete rather than tiles, leave a gear engaged, turn the bars towards the stand and work gently from both sides. Rinse the soap away from the stand foot as you go. Keep a high-pressure jet away from bearings, electrical connectors and the instruments; a hose or a bucket is kinder to the Monster 797 anyway. Dry the brakes by riding off slowly and braking lightly a few times before you need them. And once the bike is clean, it is a good moment to look at the pads and their fixing points, since dirt no longer hides fresh marks.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the Monster 797 of 2017 and 2018 for the TP090, and we have linked the pads to exactly those years. Accossato also states that its crash pads require drilling of the fairing on certain motorcycles, without listing them; to be sure about your Monster 797, please ask us before ordering. The PF049 front axle sliders are listed for this model as well. The same pads appear in our shop for the Scrambler 800, the Scrambler 1100 and the Hypermotard 950. After fitting, steer to full lock on both sides and check that nothing touches the pads.
Road Approval
A German ABE or other proof of approval is not available to us for the TP090, so we list these pads for racing and competition use.
