DescriptionThe whole story▼

AGPA92EV2 is the racing rear pad Accossato lists for the Triumph Thunderbird from 2009 to 2018. It is an unusual choice for a cruiser and is meant only for a Thunderbird used at closed-course events, where the rear brake works hard to control a heavy bike through timed sessions. For the road, the Organic or Sintered compounds of this pad are better suited. This EV2 racing version is intended for competition.

Key Features

  • Rear pads AGPA92 for the Triumph Thunderbird, 2009 to 2018

  • Built for hard, repeated use in timed sessions
  • For a Thunderbird on a closed course
  • Not intended for road use
  • Same pad in OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC
  • No test documents; racing only

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato calls EV2 racing one of its top competition compounds. It is designed for the loads of a race or timed event, rather than for the gentle use of the road. The maker's general aims include controlled temperatures to resist fading and even wear through an event.

Timed Sessions on a Cruiser

On a closed course the rear brake of a Thunderbird helps slow a heavy bike and settle it before tight turns. A racing compound is made to handle that repeated use. Prepare the bike thoroughly: fresh fluid, clean discs, and new pads bedded in before the first session. Between runs, check pad thickness and pedal travel, and note any changes. A cruiser leans less than a sports bike, so heavy braking often happens while still upright; a rear pad that holds its character through the whole session helps keep the long wheelbase stable into each corner. If the pedal begins to sink or feel vague, bleed the system before the next outing and inspect the caliper seals. Remember that the road compounds of this pad are the right choice once the event is over.

Between Runs

Let the brakes cool, inspect the rear disc for discolouration and make sure the caliper is clean and moving freely.

Fitment and Compatibility

The maker's catalogue gives two year ranges for AGPA92 on the Thunderbird: from 2009 to 2018 for the 1600, and from 2014 to 2018 for the Commander, LT and Nightstorm variants of the 1700. The front pad for these bikes is AGPA58. The box holds two pads for the single rear caliper, which is enough for a complete change at the back.

Road Approval

We have no ABE and no test mark for AGPA92EV2. It is intended for racing.

Scope of Delivery
